Wind and snow ratings assume correct assembly, adequate anchoring, louvers closed in high wind, and snow cleared before it exceeds the rated load.

How to choose in four steps

Pick by your site conditions, not by budget alone.

Check your local design wind speed

Your county has a published design wind speed. Match it to the series rating with margin to spare — do not buy a 90 mph pergola for a 110 mph site.

Check your ground snow load

Northern states publish a ground snow load in PSF. If yours exceeds 35 PSF, start at Summit.

Look at what surrounds the site

An open ridgeline, a lakefront, or a yard with no windbreak behaves very differently from a sheltered courtyard, even in the same town.

Then pick the cheapest series that clears both numbers

Structure you do not need is money you do not get back. If Horizon clears your numbers, buying Apex buys you nothing.

Where the real difference is

The step from Breeze to Horizon costs $500 and buys 40 mph of wind rating, 10 PSF of snow load, and two more warranty years. That is the best value move in the range, and it is why Horizon outsells everything else.

The step from Horizon to Summit costs $1,500. It is worth it if you are on the coast, on open ground, or in a state with real snow. If your yard is sheltered, it is not.

The step from Summit to Apex costs $500 and buys 15 mph and five warranty years. For a commercial installation or a fully exposed site that matters. For most homeowners it does not, and we will say so if you ask.

Common questions

Do the cheaper series use thinner-looking parts?

Yes, and that is the entire difference. Every series shares the same louvered roof system, the same LED, the same finishes and the same four sizes. What changes is post thickness, beam width and blade depth — which is what drives the wind rating, the snow load and the warranty length.

Can I upgrade to a motor later?

Yes. Every pergola ships with a geared manual crank as standard. The Motorized Roof Upgrade is a separate $300 add-on and fits any series or size. You can add it with your order or buy it later.

Is the LED included on the entry model?

Yes. Integrated perimeter LED lighting is standard on all four series at no extra cost, including Breeze.

What if I pick the wrong series?

Tell us your city or ZIP code before you order and we will look up your design wind speed and snow load with you. We will tell you if a cheaper series is enough — we would rather sell you the right one than the expensive one.

How long does delivery take?

45 to 60 calendar days. Every pergola is built to order, then ships DDP with all duties prepaid. Full detail is on our Shipping Policy page.
